Photography

Monochrome photographs of garden centre plants by Rachel Hogg many of which have served as the bases for inspiration for many of my drawings and prints. The style in which these photographs where taken and edited where influenced by Horst Paul Albert Bohrmann, a German-American Fashion Photographer. The plants chosen to be photographed where closed as they were found locally in London and are common household plants, emphasising our connection and obsession with plant life, the presence of plants in our everyday and the crossover where the plant and human kingdoms meet. I chose to focus in on plants with interesting patterns, which I then reiterate by editing them to be in black and white, so that the patterns could be seen more clearly.
